An exhibition can become a space in which we recognise our shared humanity through the simplest of gestures. In Ricochets, Francis Alÿs brings together films of children playing across the world, revealing how games transcend geographical and political boundaries. A hand game, a skipping rope or a spontaneous act of invention becomes a language understood before words. The exhibition invites us to see play not as an escape from reality, but as a way of navigating it, finding moments of freedom, connection and imagination even in the most difficult circumstances.
